P. Lewis Construction is a "Building Green"-based company and we try to apply green concepts, whether we are dealing with a full residential build, renovations, or commercial projects by using several different applications. Sustainable building practices are important for the future of housing and humanity alike, you can look forward to having a finished product that is better for you and the environment.
We strive for a more "healthy" project. Throughout the build, our team will use products that are better for you. There are many manufactured products on the market that have high levels of glues and paints creating high levels of off-gases called VOC's. VOC's include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOC's are consistently higher indoors than outdoors. VOC's are emitted by a wide array of products numbering in the thousands. Examples include: paints and lacquers, paint strippers, cleaning supplies, pesticides, building materials and furnishings, glues, spray adhesives, and even permanent markers. P. Lewis Construction uses smarter products creating a healthier future for our customers.
P. Lewis Construction has knowledge and capability to bring you renewable energy. Our staff help you in choosing what application will best suit your energy needs whether it's solar panels, hot water collectors, windmills, micro hydro generators, or a combination of any of the above. Tapping into our renewable sources not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also saves you money, with the potential to eliminate your monthly power bill completely!
Our company staff is very knowledgeable in all aspects of being green, but "green" is not only solar panels and wind turbines. We enrol our current projects in the BC Hydro "Power Smart Program" that appoints an energy advisor. Using the energy advisor's input and calculations, we can make small upgrades that will create a more energy efficient dwelling and give up to $2000 in rebates back to the customer. Ask about this great rebate and more!
Our company is also a strong believer in recycling and reusing anything that will help the environment. A standard home renovation will produce over $5000 worth of building products that can still be reused. Our staff will reuse the products they can, provided they are sound and suitable for another project. If they cannot be used for another project, we find the proper recycling facility that can accept the materials so they don't end up in the landfill. We work closely with companies that have the same principals such as mike lablanc with Re-Ad and their great new product that recycles that pesky styrofoam into stucco or concrete mix creating a lighter material, and better "R" Value around your home. Our company is able to bring all this to the table at an affordable and competitive price, hence the slogan "Building Green Affordably".
